Best of Cannes 2015

CANNES_2015_RED_CARPET

Ten days of ultra glamorous red carpet looks it’s tricky to narrow down who exactly were my faves. These six were definitely among the best from beauty to fashion. Charlize Theron nailed elegant style on the first day wearing a stunning yellow gown and understated makeup. Zoe Kravitz embodied cool girl chic. She was completely effortless in Valentino and her makeup look featured unexpected tiny dots at her lower lash line. I adored Diane Kruger in pale blue Prada, and the subtle highlights on her cheekbones were gorgeous. Emily Blunt in Stella McCartney, and Poppy Delevingne in Burberry represented British design very well, however Giles wins for Cate Blanchett’s show-stopping galaxy dress.

2015 Billboard Awards

Without a doubt the most exciting thing that happened on the red carpet last night, was Olivier Rousteing announcing the Balmain H&M collaboration! It was a Balmain evening with the designer dressing the host Chrissy Teigan as well as the Jenner sisters, Jourdan Dunn and Taylor Swift. Kendall gets my vote for best dressed. I’m all about the sleek hair, glowy skin, smokey eyes, and nude lip with that outfit, it was perfection.

2015 MTV Movie Awards

2015_MTV_Awards

There were quite a few style standouts tonight at the MTV Movie Awards. My three favourites were Jennifer Lopez in a Versace ensemble with her signature bronze makeup and extra long hair extensions was flawless. Emily Ratajkowski was drop dead gorgeous in Fausto Puglisi. Sleek hair and smokey eyes completed her very hot look. Scarlet Johannson’s bright pink Zuhair Murad jumpsuit was everything. I love her hair short, her full brows, soft brown eye shadow, and pale pink lips pulled the whole look together.

Balmain Store Opening London

balmain_opening_london

A British Balmain Army of models, socialites and celebrities were on hand earlier this week to celebrate Olivier Rousteing and the opening of the first ever Balmain shop in London. I love Balmain. The designs are stunning, always fabulous colours, shapes and textures, they are luxury party clothes. When you wear Balmain you don’t need anything else, which is why the neutral makeup worn by all the girls could not have been more appropriate.

2015 Grammy Awards

GRAMMYS_2015_RED_CARPET

What a night. There were so many spectacular red carpet moments from fashion to beauty. It goes without saying that Rihanna in Giambattista Valli Couture, was the showstopper of the evening. Racing down the red carpet moments before the show began like a giant pink frosted cupcake. I absolutely loved her whole look–simple pulled back hair, soft neutral makeup, and then the dress! Beyonce continued the neutral makeup trend looking fresh faced, and wearing her long locks less voluminous than usual. Kim Kardashian’s recently chopped hair and golden makeup looked quite stunning paired with her shimmering Jean Paul Gaultier gown. Chrissy Teigan can always be counted on for bronzed glowy skin. She looked gorgeous last night in white Emilio Pucci. Ciara brought the drama showing off her insane body in Alexander Vauthier. Her hair pulled of her face, and neutral toned makeup, drew attention to her incredible bone structure. Rita Ora’s smoky eyes stood out amongst a sea of earth tones, as did her newly cropped hair and silver sequined Prada dress.

Rita Ora for L’Officiel February 2015

Everything about Rita Ora on the cover of L’Officiel is amazing. The 70’s blonde bowl cut, the dark brows, the winged eyeliner, it is all gorgeous.

2015 Golden Globe Awards

The 2015 awards season is off to very good start. Last night’s red carpet was well worth watching. I based my top six standouts on overall look because as usual some celebrities had on fabulous outfits with not so fabulous hair and makeup, and vice versa. It goes without saying that Kate Hudson was the red carpet show-stopper of the evening. The Versace cut-out dress was absolutely spectacular. Her simple centre parted low bun, and neutral makeup were the finishing touch. Emma Stone barely ever misses the fashion mark. I loved her structured smoky eyes and pink lips, and the Lanvin jumpsuit was everything-fresh, modern, relaxed, and she looked effortless. Sienna Miller followed along the same vein. The Miu Miu dress combined pretty and edgy into one. The soft waved bob, along with glowy makeup, courtesy of Charlotte Tilbury was the perfect package. Allison Williams had the best hair of the night. The above the shoulder waves, and the deep side part were just stunning with her dramatic Armani Prive gown. Jessica Chastain’s classic Hollywood look was perhaps the best I’ve seen her on a red carpet. Rosamund Pike was one of the first people I saw interviewed at the arrivals and I immediately loved her Vera Wang dress, and her asymmetrical bob.

Throwback Thursday: Best Red Carpet Style 2014

These ladies set the standard high in 2014 when they hit the red carpet impeccably put together from head to toe. Rihanna was definitely the star of the year even taking home the CFDA Fashion Icon of the Year award.

The first big red carpet event of 2015 will be this Sunday’s Golden Globes.

2014 British Fashion Awards

BRITISH_FASHION_AWARDS

The British Fashion Awards had a fabulous turn out last night in London. From Victoria Beckham to Cara Delevingne, Britain’s best celebrated the fashion industry in true style. A popular makeup look for the evening was the warm brown smokey eye. The Delevingne sisters, Victoria Beckham, and Naomi Campbell all infused a sienna tone to the traditional black for a modern take on the look. Olivia Palermo opted for the classic smokey look with nude lips. Scarlet lips were seen on Joan Smalls, Emma Watson and Kendall Jenner. Rihanna has been having a throwback to the 90’s lately, and continued the trend last night with a pretty taupe and caramel makeup palette.

My favourite outfits were Emma Watson’s ivory and black ensemble so it is quite appropriate that she won the  “British Style” award. As well unsurprisingly “Model of the Year” went to Cara who was also at the top of my best dressed list for the evening.

2014 American Music Awards

AMERICAN_MUSIC_AWARDS_2014

The red carpet at the American Music Awards on Sunday followed standard celebrity makeup procedure: glowy skin; tons of lashes; nude lips, with the exception of Selena Gomez; and carefully groomed eye brows. The best beauty look was Gigi Hadid who looked neutral and radiant. I’m quite obsessed with her look in general, so even though her trouser suit was not all to my liking she still wins based on that stunning face.
