2015 Golden Globe Awards

The 2015 awards season is off to very good start. Last night’s red carpet was well worth watching. I based my top six standouts on overall look because as usual some celebrities had on fabulous outfits with not so fabulous hair and makeup, and vice versa. It goes without saying that Kate Hudson was the red carpet show-stopper of the evening. The Versace cut-out dress was absolutely spectacular. Her simple centre parted low bun, and neutral makeup were the finishing touch. Emma Stone barely ever misses the fashion mark. I loved her structured smoky eyes and pink lips, and the Lanvin jumpsuit was everything-fresh, modern, relaxed, and she looked effortless. Sienna Miller followed along the same vein. The Miu Miu dress combined pretty and edgy into one. The soft waved bob, along with glowy makeup, courtesy of Charlotte Tilbury was the perfect package. Allison Williams had the best hair of the night. The above the shoulder waves, and the deep side part were just stunning with her dramatic Armani Prive gown. Jessica Chastain’s classic Hollywood look was perhaps the best I’ve seen her on a red carpet. Rosamund Pike was one of the first people I saw interviewed at the arrivals and I immediately loved her Vera Wang dress, and her asymmetrical bob.

W Magazine February 2015

As the new year begins so does awards season in Hollywood. W magazine pays tribute with a collection of magazine covers featuring potential nominees. These four are my top picks, especially Julianne Moore and Emma Stone’s covers. Those lashes are amazing!

Kid’s Choice Awards

Young Hollywood was out for the Kid’s Choice Awards. Emma Stone looked very soft and pretty. Kelly and Katy were embracing the pastel hair, and I also thought their makeup went really well the hair. Selena Gomez’s smoky elongated eye makeup was very sultry and enhanced her eyes nicely. Though considerably older than the rest, I thought Heidi Klum looked fresh and modern.

SAG Awards 2012

Awards season is well underway, and the SAG red carpet featured some gorgeous looks. Amber Heard gets my vote for best overall look. Loved her dress, hair and makeup.

Who did you think looked the best?

Golden Globes 2012

Some years when I watch the Globes, I ooh and ahh over the dresses. However, I felt like this year’s Globes wasn’t quite as inspiring. Besides the bold lip, overall the makeup was rather understated.

There were a lot of pale dresses. I loved Charlize’s Dior couture dress and the accessories that went along with it. Her shoes were hot and the side chignon with the headband made the look. The sharp shoulders and belt on Emma Stone’s pleated Lanvin gown looked cool as did Salma Hayeks ombre locks.

People’s Choice Award 2012

Following the brights trend for this season, there was a lot of colour on the red carpet. I particularly enjoyed Lea Michele’s white drapey Marchesa gown paired with the bubble gum pink lips and Kelly Osbourne’s orangey lids and ash blonde hair. And of course Elisha Cuthbert — her makeup is fresh-faced and minimal but how can she go wrong with that gorgeous face of hers.

Best Celeb Makeup & Style 2011

These celebs had a great year for make up and style. A combination of flawless, glowy skin, red lips, major lashes, and smoky eyes are the ingredients for a winning look.

Nicole glams up from her usual boho look very nicely. Beyonce looks radiant. Rosie goes from catwalk to red carpet seamlessly. Emma’s complexion is luminous. Jennifer basically gets better every year. Rachel is always adorable.

Hollywood Film Awards 2011

These 4 ladies looked stunning at the Hollywood Film Awards. We’re always fans of Emma Stone and her anti-tan, flawless skin looked lovely with soft eye make up and long dark lashes. Rosie’s swept back hair really emphasized her pouty berry stained lips. Carey Mulligan bucked the neutral eye make up trend with black glittery eye lids, and perfectly groomed brows. The youngest actress of them all looked very age appropriate with her makeup, and on trend at the same time with milk maid braids, that we at Smudge Style also like to rock!

Red Carpet Looks: Deauville & Venice Film Festival

The film festivals in Venice and Deauville, have brought Hollywoods red carpets to Europe. The popular makeup look of choice seems to be neutral eyes and pink lips. The exceptions to this are Emma Stone in rust coloured eyes and lips, and Kiera Knightley in carbon eyeliner and neutral lips.

Friends with Benefits Premiere

Mila Kunis and Emma Stone brought the red carpet to life on Monday night. Mila’s bronze eye makeup and tan glowy skin was perfect with her red Lanvin dress. Emma Stone was equally as gorgeous with winged liquid eyeliner, fuchsia lips, and a high ponytail topped off with a colour blocked Giambattista Valli ensemble.
