Summer Hair

July 13th, 2011

These runway chignon’s are the perfect summertime hairstyle. All varieties work for different occasions. If you’re attending a formal event like a wedding, go for the Oscar De La Renta, or for beach try the DVF version. A little Dsquared2 for the office would be cute, and for those long nights spent sipping wine on a patio, you can’t got wrong with messy Proenza Schouler bun.

Hair Trend: Centre Part

March 16th, 2011

The centre part is having a moment this Spring. Seen at quite a few shows across the fashion capitals, this is a super easy trend to update your look with. This early 70′s look of course works when your hair is down, but try it when your hair is pulled back too, like at Calvin Klein and Nina Ricci.

4 Party Looks

December 10th, 2010

These 4 looks are perfect for any party this winter. Dark lips make a statement when paired with an otherwise low key look. Flawless skin, groomed brows, and black mascara is really all you need.

Metallics in gold, copper and bronze look stunning. Pick two features that will shimmer to avoid looking like a disco ball. Wear with natural matte foundation.

Make your eyes stand out with thick dark lashes. Strip lashes are an easy way to get this look. If you have the patience though, lots of individual lashes placed close together along the lashline look amazing.

Of course the faithful stand by for any occasion is the dark eye. What I love about this particular smoky liner on Zoe Saldana, is the texture, and worn in look. Try using an eyekohl and smudge it out. Tap a very small amount of Vaseline or Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream on top. This will give your liner a sheen. It will move the makeup too, creating an imperfect more worn in look.

Concealer Tips

March 4th, 2010

Concealer is a lifesaver. It covers anything you ever want to hide, from blemishes to bad tattoos. Here are a few concealer tips:

1. Choose the right tool. Small soft brushes for concealing under the eyes. Small firm brushes are better for blemishes and spots.

2. If you can, avoid using heavy cream concealers under the eyes they can look noticeable. Instead opt for a medium coverage liquid concealer for seamless coverage.

3. Use a warm coloured concealer to cancel out dark circles that have blue undertones.

4. When applying concealer under the eye or on a blemish, focus on the area that needs covering. Don’t over apply where you don’t need it.

5. Choose the right colour. Too light only emphasizes what you’re trying to disguise.

6. Always prep the skin with appropriate skincare before apply concealer. Concealer will blend easier and look more natural.

Sneak Preview: New York Fashion Week A/W 10

February 19th, 2010

Spring hasn’t officially arrived yet, but judging from what we’ve seen so far at New York Fashion Week there is a lot to look forward to for Autumn 2010. There were some beautiful shows. Overall the make up looks seemed to be more about the eyes than the lips. I absolutely love the Alexander Wang make up. MAC Mid-tone Sepia Cream Colour Base blended and wrapped around the eye is such a hot look. I also enjoyed the cool taupe eyes at Rodarte, again in that wrapped around elongated shape. London starts today!

Braids for S/S 10

February 9th, 2010

It’s the season of the side braid. This whimsical look got a 2010 redo at Alexander Wang and Miu Miu. The girls wore their braids slightly dishevelled, thick, and extra long. This is definitely my braid of choice. I’ve tried and tested it already, and got complements! If a sleek version is more your speed, then either the Lacoste or Gaultier look would be more appropriate.

Anyone else loving the one braided ponytail?
