Model of the Moment: Ruby Aldridge

August 30th, 2011

It’s no accident that LA girl Ruby Aldridge is one of the latest models to watch. Younger sister to model Lily Aldridge, niece of model Saffron Aldridge and sister to fashion photographer Miles Aldridge, modeling was definitely in her blood. Since A/W 2010 Ruby has walked the runways of all the major shows and is now gracing the pages of many ad campaigns.

Model of the Moment: Daphne Groeneveld

March 28th, 2011

When I look at Daphne I just see these massive features–the lips, the eyes, the brows, the hair are all super sized and so striking. She’s only 15 years old and has already been featured in Paris Vogue 3 times and was on the cover once for the Tom Ford edition of the magazine. Born in the Netherlands Daphne began her runway career just over a year ago, and has walked in New York, Milan, and Paris Ready to Wear, and couture shows for Givenchy, Dior and Valentino. As well as having 2 major campaigns with Miu Miu and Givenchy. Daphne Groeneveld stands out in a crowd of new comers, and is definitely one to watch.

Model of the Moment: Lindsey Wixson

February 3rd, 2011

Lindsey Wixson is one of the most successful newcomers to the industry. She was signed in 2009 to an agency in LA. Wixson’s first runway season began in New York SS 10. After that she opened Prada’s show in Milan, which of course put her on track for walking in the most important shows for the rest of season. It’s her standout features that make Wixson unique. The full, but tiny pout, and the gap in her teeth are her trademark.

Model of the Moment: Jac Jagaciak

October 6th, 2010

Three years ago at only 13, Jac Jagaciak became the face of Hermes. Not a bad way to start your modeling career! Unable to walk in the collections due to age restrictions, Jac debuted at New York Fashion Week in February of 2009 opening and closing Calvin Klein. Which pretty much confirmed this girl was one to watch. Since then Jac has been opening and closing some of the best shows of the past season including Giambattista Valli, Valentino, Versace, and Lanvin just to name a few. Spring 2011 is no different, Jagaciak was everywhere! Editorials, and covers for publications like Numero, W, Paris Vogue, Vogue Nippon, and Italian Vogue read like a laundry list on her resume. Currently models.com ranks Jagaciak at #10 will be interesting to see how quickly she moves up.

Model of the Moment: Tara Gill

June 23rd, 2010

Model Tara Gill hails from the same country we reside-Canada. Born in Toronto, Tara Gill is part Native part Irish. Her features and bone structure are really strong, and  though she is known for her lips, I think her eyes are so intense. Not entirely new to the modelling game, Gill has been on the scene since 2007. In 2009 Gill was the face of McQueen’s online ad campaign, and walked in his last Spring show. She was recently quoted in Elle Canada saying the McQueen show was the most memorable moment in her career thus far. No doubt there will be many more memorable moments to come.

Model of the Moment: Jourdan Dunn

November 18th, 2009

Jourdan Dunn

Jourdan was spotted at the age of 16, where many 16 year old British girls can be found — at discount fashion superstore Primark. A few years later and she’s gone from Primark shopper to British Fashion Council’s “Model of the Year” in 2008. Jourdan was also on the cover of Italian Vogue in July 2008 with the entire issue celebrating Black models. Her most recent cover was Teen Vogue’s November issue. There have been countless runways from Louis to Prada, and campaigns for Calvin Klein, YSL, and Topshop to name a few. Her feline features are truly captivating, it’s no wonder this girl is a star.

Model of the Moment: Ranya Mordanova

Model of the Moment: Ranya Mordanova

New to the scene and already making a name for herself is Ranya Mordanova. She’s already been dubbed as a “rising star” and one of the “top ten newcomers” by several industry insiders. Since debuting in New York this February, Ranya’s managed to score editorials in French Vogue, W and V magazine as well as a lucrative ad campaign with Givenchy. And that’s just to name a few!

During London Fashion week in September, I worked with Ranya at Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders. Intense eyes, severe bowl cut, poreless pale skin, and the most adorable pout. A guarantee that she stands out in a crowd.
