Model of the Moment: Anais Pouliot

January 17th, 2012

Beautiful brown eyed, full lipped, Quebecois model Anais Pouliot is a rising star. Since being signed in 2007 she’s been racking up editorials, opening and closing shows during fashion week, and has a few major campaigns under her belt which includes Louis Vuitton’s AW11 ads.

Model of the Moment: Melissa Tammerijn

November 28th, 2011

Melissa Tammerijn’s porcelain skin, huge blue eyes and razor sharp cheekbones, make her a stand out on the extensive ready-to-wear and couture catwalks she’s walked in the past couple of seasons. Born in Holland and now living  London, where I spotted her last week, Tammerjin has been seen in major fashion mags such as Vogue Italia, Vogue China, Muse, and Dazed and Confused.

Model of the Moment: Barbara Palvin

October 17th, 2011

Discovered at the young age of 13 Barbara Palvin, now 18, still has the cutest young looking face, but those penetrating eyes have a maturity to them. She has been modeling in top fashion magazines like Vogue, L’Official, and walked down the catwalk for Prada, Louis, Christopher Kane, and Chanel to name  a few. Currently ranked #47 on models.com she is a rising star that is sure to move up quite swiftly.

Model of the Moment: Bambi Northwood-Blythe

June 13th, 2011

I’m obsessed with Australian newcomer Bambi’s brows. They’re very Brooke Shields like. Although still relatively new to the industry, Bambi has been racking up the editorials in mags like Bazaar, i-D, Love, W, and Japanese Vogue. She’s also walked for designers such as Kenzo, Giambattista Valli, Giles, and Diesel to name a few. Her youthful looks also landed her the Calvin Klein CK One campaign, earlier this year.

Tip of the Day: Shiny Eyelids

June 9th, 2011

I love the look of shiny eyelids. It’s such a simple, yet highly effective way to makeup your eyes. Depending on how reflective you want your lids to look, use a salve like Eight Hour Cream, or for a high shine I use lip gloss.

Neither product requires a large amount to get the look. Using your ring finger tap a small amount of product onto bare eyelids. Remember it’s gloss–don’t expect it to stay put and not crease, but it’s all part of the look.

MTV Movie Awards

June 6th, 2011

4 of the best looks from last nights MTV Movie awards were Leighton in Balmain with two-tone wavy hair. Blake in her blue body-con Michael Kors dress and sleek ponytail. Hailee Steinfeld looked more on trend than I’ve ever seen her at an awards show before. Her centre part and red lip looked so good on her. Rosie always looks beautiful with her signature pouty lips, and Dolce and Gabbana you really can’t go wrong.

Alexa Chung

April 26th, 2011

Model, TV presenter, designer, “it-girl” Alexa Chung wears many hats. Recognized for her somewhat quirky yet cool style, and a permanent front row feature at the four fashion weeks. Despite this, what makes her so appealing is the non-chalent approach to her overall grooming that makes her somewhat intriguing. Not one to over do it with makeup, usually nothing more than a flick of liquid liner is the basis of her look, bare lips and tousled hair.

January Jones for W Magazine

April 19th, 2011

I never use this adjective because it’s been highly over used, but in this particular case I can’t help myself–January Jones looks fierce! The team responsible for the amazing shoot is made up of makeup artist Jeanine Lobell, hair by Oribe Salon Miami Beach, styled by Lori Goldstein and photographed by Craig McDean.

Jones used to model before she started acting, which is of course not a big surprise based on her looks and height. Lately the two worlds are coming together. As the face of Versace’s SS11 campaign, and in the upcoming X Men movie. Model or actress, she does both exceptionally well.

Red Hair

December 8th, 2010

Red hair seems to be popping up everywhere this F/W season. It’s not a new trend since ladies like Christina Hendricks, Lily Cole and Karen Elson have been wearing the look proudly for many years. When Rihanna went shocking red though, it was hard not realize that perhaps there is something to this bright shade. More hair salons are reporting that women are asking for coppery locks. It’s not just hair that’s going red, Fall collections showed it more than usual too, shows like Cerutti, Brian Reyes, and Givenchy all featured the rich hue.

Model of the Moment: Marike Le Roux

July 22nd, 2010

South African born Marike Le Roux took her first steps on the runway during New York Fashion Week September 2009. She has a very appealing sort of look that can transform from innocent to seductive. Shortly after her runway debut Le Roux became the face of Sonia Rykiel for their Spring 2010 campaign. Other career highlights include Elie Saab Couture in Paris and closing the Jeremy Scott show last fashion week in New York. A newcomer to the industry she is one to watch.

Amber Rose for YRB Magazine

June 22nd, 2010

Now this is quite a transformation for miss Amber Rose! Usually seen around town bald headed and scantily clad on the arm of Kanye West. Amber Rose is all dolled up in old Hollywood glamour with a very modern twist. Those brows are amazing.

I think she looks pretty fantastic. What do you think?

Tip of the Day: Bronzer

June 16th, 2010

For a perfect sun kissed look use a large powder brush and apply bronzer on all the high points of the face. The forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin.

Lara Stone for Calvin Klein

June 15th, 2010

I’m sort of obsessed with Lara Stone. As are most people in the industry, so it’s not entirely surprising that Lara is the face of not one but three, branches of the Calvin Klein brand. The brow-less blonde looks stunning in every image. From contoured and sleek in Calvin Klein Collection, laid back and young in Calvin Klein Jeans, and showing off her famous mouth wearing red lips for CK. Love it!

Model of the Moment: Ginta Lapina

April 29th, 2010

Ginta Lapina is known for her white blonde hair. I like her look because it’s a little bit tough despite the blonde locks. Born in Latvia she now lives in New York. She started out in 2005 doing catalogue and some magazine work, two years later Lapina made her runway debut in New York at the Benjamin Cho show. Since then she’s walked for many designers including: Vivienne Westwood, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, and can count herself as one of the Victoria’s Secret girls. In 2009 Lapina became the face of Derek Lam and looks beautiful in his print campaigns. For a girl who at first wasn’t interested in modelling she’s doing a brilliant job.

Model of the Moment: Shu Pei Qin

February 25th, 2010

Shu Pei has walked the runways of all the big shows in every major city from New York to Paris. This past season Spring 2010, Shu Pei became one of the few Asian models to walk the runway for Prada. Since she signed with Next in 2007 Shu Pei’s resume has been getting longer with editorials in Chinese Vogue, W, Teen Vogue, Chinese Elle, and British Elle. I spotted her at Christopher Kane last season. She has sort of an innocence about her, but she’s provocative at the same time. Great eyes, full lips, and striking bone structure she has a long career ahead of her.

Model of the Moment: Georgia May Jagger

January 20th, 2010

Georgia May Jagger, daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall she inherited some of their most recognizable traits-Dad’s lips and Mom’s legs and hair. Recently she was honored as Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in London. Interview magazine thinks she’s the next big thing, and I am inclined to agree.  The gap in her teeth is reminiscent of another successful model from years back. She’s got that cool, easy style of many famous Brits. Georgia has contracts with Hudson Jeans, is the face of the latest Spring Summer Versace ads, and joins Coco Rocha in the new Rimmel cosmetics campaign. It looks like at 17, Georgia is well on her way to an amazing career.

Model of the Moment: Jourdan Dunn

November 18th, 2009

Jourdan Dunn

Jourdan was spotted at the age of 16, where many 16 year old British girls can be found — at discount fashion superstore Primark. A few years later and she’s gone from Primark shopper to British Fashion Council’s “Model of the Year” in 2008. Jourdan was also on the cover of Italian Vogue in July 2008 with the entire issue celebrating Black models. Her most recent cover was Teen Vogue’s November issue. There have been countless runways from Louis to Prada, and campaigns for Calvin Klein, YSL, and Topshop to name a few. Her feline features are truly captivating, it’s no wonder this girl is a star.
