I just picked up L’Oreal’s new Voluminous Million Lashes in LA this week. I love the all gold packaging it looks quite prestige but for a fraction of the price! The difference between this mascara and the other’s in the Voluminous line, is the silicone brush and new wiper system. The multiple bristles grab the lashes so every lash is coated. It is definitely more precise than the wand in the other mascara’s. Also the wiper system removes the majority of excess product which means less clumps. However, I did find my lashes still looked full because the brush works well. My only mistake was buying the black instead of blackest black. Black is more like grey, and of course the mascara is not available yet in Canada.

Lash Stiletto Voluptuous is the latest edition to the mascara family at Maybelline. I reviewed last years Lash Stiletto and it was pretty good so I was interested in trying this new one. Overall it does give a thicker and longer look to my lashes, the waved shape of the brush grabs lashes from the root and extends them which adds length. The brush pulls out lots of product from the tube so you can pile it on. I always wear black mascara and this one is jet black and patent looking which makes the lashes stand out.

MAC Studio Fix Lash mascara is the first of it’s kind at MAC to have the moulded wand. The silicone applicator has short spiky bristles, really good for grabbing the lashes and thoroughly coating them with product. I also find that the spikes on the wand are very effective at separating the lashes. A couple of coats gives descent length but more work is required to build volume. This is where the trouble begins, as you build it can become too clumpy especially on the lower lashes. I have the black and the colour is very rich and dark so lashes stand out. Overall I like this mascara but I’m not in love with it. Will it be as iconic as it’s name’s sake product Studio Fix? I’m not convinced.
