Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation

June 29th, 2011

This isn’t a new product but it is new to me since you can’t buy Illamasqua in Canada. I just purchased it in the States at Sephora. The coverage is exactly what I was looking for, opaque and matte. This foundation covers imperfections amazingly well without looking heavy. I’ve been buffing it onto my skin with a MAC #109 brush. A little goes along way, which means you can skip the concealer and just use this. Another great thing is I find I’m touching up with powder, alot less throughout the day, and my skin looks very even.

Temptu and House of Dereon Tattoos

October 1st, 2010

As I’ve mentioned before I’m a quite intrigued by tattoos. Though I don’t have any myself, for a variety of reasons, one of which is the permanence of a tattoo would not work for someone who constantly changes their mind.
Beyonce’s clothing line-House of Dereon has partnered with airbrush company Temptu to create a temporary tattoo line. The designs are quite ornate featuring The House of Dereon fleur icon, rocker bolts and chains, jewels, and spider designs. Unlike most temporary tats these are waterproof, and are meant to last up to 5 days.
When they launch November 1st there will be two kits available to purchase- basic and deluxe. Both include 8 tattoos with the necessary application pads. The deluxe kit has a signed photo of Bey and a chance to win a trip to NYC.

The kits will be available at Sephora in store and, online as well as on dereon.com and temptu.com.

Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick

August 18th, 2010

I just tried these new lipsticks from Make Up Forever. They really are quite nice. They come in 3 different textures-matte, pearly, and satin. I enjoyed the matte and the satin, I’m never a huge fan of overly frosty textures. All 3 textures are packed with pigment, apparently 50% more than traditional lipstick. The pay off is excellent, and they wear very well. What is most exciting is the fact that there are 50 new colours to choose from! A make up kit overhaul is in my near future, and these new lipsticks will be great new additions to my lip palette.

Tip of the Day: Protect Your Skin

April 19th, 2010

The healthiest way to slow the aging process down, is by protecting your skin against UV rays. Use a sunscreen that has both UVA and UVB protectors, and remember to reapply after being in the water. Try Shiseido Ultimate Protection Cream for Face SPF 55.

Kat Von D Rock n Roll Eyeshadow Duos

February 8th, 2010

Over the weekend I’ve been wearing the Kat Von D Motorhead (black colour) eyeshadow. What I liked about the shadow initially was the two textures in one. Half is matte the other half has small silver glitter particles infused into it. Inside the lid is a small mirror which is quite convenient. I found that the shadow adheres to the skin quite easily when applied with a brush. The pay off is good especially the matte texture. As with most eyeshadow, when applied on top of a cream base you get maximum pay off. As I blended the shadow, I did notice the colour started to lose intensity going from dark black to more of a grey colour. The glitter particles fall onto your cheeks which can be annoying if you’ve already done your foundation. On myself, I found the shadow wore for at least 5 hours without fading.

Currently these shadows are half price at Sephora-only $10. For that price they are worth trying.
