Runway Nails AW11

December 6th, 2011

There were plenty of natural nails on the runway for fall winter 2011 but at Nina Ricci, Rodarte, and both Chanel and Valentino Couture we saw that short and painted completed the look. The deep dark navy at Chanel Couture is my favourite–less intense than black and more unexpected than a vampy maroon. The shape at all 4 of the shows was leaning more towards square then my preference which is always oval.

How To: Pink Eyeshadow Trend

May 20th, 2011

Here are a few tips for the pink eyeshadow trend that we showed earlier this week.

1. Not all shimmery shadows have strong colour pay off. It’s best to apply a cream shadow underneath for maximum colour.

2. Apply a rose shade on the lids and blend towards the crease, wrap the colour around the eye.

3. Black eyeliner along the upper lash line, and lots of black mascara will ground the look.

4. Keep the brows soft and groom with a brow gel.

5. Finish with a light shade of pink on the lips in a cream texture.

Paris Couture Collections

January 29th, 2010

The couture shows have just about wrapped up in Paris. As usual there was outstanding make up and hair to go along with the amazing designer creations. Elie Saab’s neutral contouring and braided hair looked like it could be go from the runway to the streets the easiest. Jean Paul Gaultier showed a kaleidoscope of colours on the eye that looked like an abstract painting. Obviously JPG still can’t get enough of the jade nails!  I’m particularly partial to coral lips, so the look at Chanel was a favourite of mine. (I’m thinking about getting a fringe too!) Givenchy’s take on smoky eyes and red lips, with the must have bleached brow was amped up with a dose of glitter. Blue was the colour of choice at Christian Dior and for some of the Valentino girls who wore pastel coloured masks. In about a week we’ll be previewing NY ready to wear-I can’t wait…
